Update virus definitions:

Open Virex (located on your hard drive in the Applications folder)

  • Click eUpdates
  • When prompted, enter your administrator password and click OK.
  • After the virus definitions are updated, you will get a message with the date of the definitions for Virex.

    • scan for viruses:

    1. Open Virex (located on your hard drive in the Applications folder)
    2. From the Scan drop-down list, select the hard drive, zip, or floppy disk you want to scan.
    3. Check the box labeled:Clean any files infected with a virus
    4. Click Scan
    5. Virex informs you when it is complete.

    set automatic updates:

    1. Launch the Virex Shield
    2. Click on Virex 7.2, and then select Preferences
    3. Make sure that the following are checked:
      • Automatically scan at login
      • Check for new virus definitions
    4. Click OK. McAfee virex will now check for updates and scan your computer for viruses each time you start up your computer.
